Room in a Day: Creating Our Office Entry
posted by Kathleen on | 18 Comments - Post a comment
We're coming up on our year anniversary of being in our new office, and our space has definitely had a huge transformation. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to put our personal touch on it, starting with the front entrance room. We gathered up our resources and propped, shopped, opened boxes, cut, painted, nailed and did countless other tasks to come up with this look!

First, we chose a color palette that would be easily changeable throughout the seasons — of course we loved gray, our color-of-the-moment. Gray is a neutral that gave us a nice canvas to showcase a variety of our products and just so happens to be in our beautiful logo. We pulled the color through the curtains and the fabric in our bookshelves (look for a how-to on this soon!). We chose green accents in the trim of the rug, blankets, throw pillows and tablescape. We love how this palette creates a feeling of welcome for visitors as they walk through our front door. Neutral furniture (white chairs, bookshelves and mantel, plus a farmhouse dining table) completes the look without introducing new, distracting shades into that palette.

Oh, and we did all this in one day — we came in on a holiday so the rest of our Willow House coworkers wouldn't see how crazy-frantic we get with such a quick project (they already think we're crazy enough with Josh walking around with product on his head). There were some tense moments (particularly with Leslie and Carrie, who discovered paint does not perform well in humid, high-90 degree heat), but we ended up having a lot of fun.

Overall, we're pretty pleased with our room, and we get to enjoy it every time we walk through the front door. We find that being surrounded by a creative and pleasing environment really helps us be creative in our work — and that's what it's all about!

Huh? Sometimes josh likes to (insert something witty here, it’s late and I cannot think!)
Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to visit in January!!
I don't have a fireplace and have always wanted one - you've inspired me to go with a faux facade. Thank you!
Ha... I could post the same empty-Willow-House-Boxes photo!
I love the look of the place setting with the Italian Stitch plate on the Covington Accent Tray. Love the mix of the curves against the angles!

What is the name of the paint you used on the wall? Also, how about a how-to on making those lamps? Gorgeous!!
Love seeing how you put it all together. From a blank canvas to gorgeous inviting set-up, and giving us consultant some great ideas along the way :)
Great pictures and ideas!
Can you please tell us how you made the lamps?
Wow! All that in just a day! I think I need to get to work on my living room. Thanks for the inspiration.
You guys are too funny!!! It's like watching me and my daughter working at her place just a couple weeks ago...and yes I was the one ironing!!! The room looks great!!
Love all the detailing that went into designing the entry way! Good job !
How fun to see you guys at work to go to work! :D
The lamps were done at a local lamp store, I would do the same if you're thinking about making any product into a lamp. We love this idea and it's a great money-saving way to create a new look! The wall color is Benjamin Moore, Manchester Tan Thanks for all the great comments!
How do I find the company that converts so many of our beautiful pieces into lamps?
Love the wallpaper-backed bookcases! Great touch to basic white shelves.
cool design!
