Hey Readers: Pick Your Palette!
posted by Josh on | 71 Comments - Post a comment

We need your input on a very important project — how about helping out your Plate & Pattern designers?

If you’re familiar with our blog, then you probably know a little bit about our day jobs, which include stying and shooting for our home décor and designer jewelry catalogs.

But every year, when our company gathers for our annual meeting, we put on our biggest show of the year — Design Showcase!

It’s kind of impossible to properly describe what Design Showcase is, but I’ll try. Basically, our Creative and Design Teams, plus a bevy of stylists, staffers, carpenters, interns, and schleppers work together to transform a gigantic, cold, industrial, fluorescently lit exhibition hall into a wonderland of designer style. If a tradeshow hooked up with an idea home, our Design Showcase would be their impeccably stylish daughter.

This year, we’re doing something that we’ve NEVER done before — we’re asking our readers to contribute to our Design Showcase! Before you ask, no, you don’t have to paint a wall or haul furniture, but you do have to give us your opinion — it’s a task that’s right up your alley! ;)

You get to pick which color palette we use to decorate a theme table in our Design Showcase! Check out these two color stories:

Vintage Misfit

One part seventies prep and one part eclectic mix equals a home that makes a statement. The Vintage Misfit theme is about collecting what you love and creating a stylish story in every room.

Luxe & Lace
The French boudoir influence in interiors is showcased in Luxe & Lace. Feminine shapes and a color palette of chic pastels yield heavenly surroundings. Slip into a home filled with soft fabrics and grand accessories.

Think about what color story best fits your style, and leave a comment below with your pick. The one with the most votes will be on display at our WHAM meeting this July!

In the meantime, we’re sketching, meeting, planning, propping, and shopping to create a fantastic show. I caught up with Photo Coordinator/ Designer Extraordinaire Katie Ward and asked her to share a snippet about this year’s showcase:

What are you most excited about in this year's Design Showcase?
Katie: There are two things that I am most excited about — first, the layout! We’re taking a page from today’s home designers and showcasing Simply Good Design in a fun open living space. So many homes today feature an open floor plan, so we’re excited about mixing it up for a big impact with lots of ideas. Second, I love the front room color scheme! It’s going to be an attention grabber. You’re going to rush home and want to re-decorate your entire house! It’s so fun and fresh!

PS: One more thing! For those of our readers who are Willow House Consultants and who are signed up for WHAM!, don’t forget about our Plate & Pattern Contest! Submit your best ideas for mantels, tablescapes, etc. on MyStyleShare.com (it's FREE, just tag your entry "whamcontest") for a chance to win up to $300 in free products!

Don't forget to vote for your favorite color palette — Luxe & Lace or Vintage Misfit!

I like the Luxe and Lace, it is elegant and sophisticated! I would love to see a room done in these colors.
OOoooo Tough Choice, but Vintage Misfit sounds too fun to resist. After watching Dark Shadows last night, with it's early 70s soundtrack, I am intrigued by the description 'one part 70s prep', but wil refrain from thinking that Alice Cooper will be invited to the dinner party.
Vintage Misfit, absolutely! It feels more like a "real home" palette to me, and I love the 'collecting and displaying the things you love" philosophy of design.
Lux and Lace! That palette looks fresh and chic.
Vintage Misfit for sure. I love the boldness and warmth of it
Vintage Misfit all the way!
Lux and Lace
While I really like the light, airy feeling of the Luxe & Lace I have to go with Vintage Misfit. Some of those colors are a bit dark for me, but I can see how they would turn a house in a home. My home would fall betwee the two choices.
LOVE the Grays in Luxe & Lace but so tired of tans. So my vote is for Vintage Misfit. I love to see great collections so excited to see what you design!
Vintage Misfit! It's bold yet inviting
Luxe and Lace ! love it !
I love the Luxe and Lace - so my style!!!
Vintage Misfit are the colors that always draw my attention.
The vintage misfit are my favorite because of their rich deep color palate. I can feel the warmth radiating from my screen.
Vintage Misfit, love those colors
tough choice but I think I would have to go with Vintage Misfit
I like the Luxe and Lace.
My vote is for Vintage Misfit! I love the bold color palette!
Vintage Misfit; I love bold colors!
Vintage Misfits peaks my interest I am all about collecting what you love and putting a little bit of your story in every room.
I vote for Luxe and Lace. I lived through the 70s. It was not a good time for good design. It's time to "lighten" up.
Luxe and lace for me. It is peaceful and relaxing.
I love the Luxe and Lace! I don't like dark colors. It seems depressing. I love the light airy colors of the L&L. They are refreshing and happy and makes me want smile! :-)
Really love them both~and design showcase is the best part about WHAM. I love the Luxe and Lace but Vintage Misfits is more my style and something I'd bring home and try, so that get's my vote!
Vintage Misfit..sounds and looks like me and my house! LOL and we could use some inspiration to spruce us up!
Vintage Misfit!
I love the Luxe and Lace palette, but I prefer the Vintage Misfit description.
Voting for Luxe and Lace - Love the softness of the colors...makes a room warm, comforting and welcoming.
I LOVE Luxe and Lace!
I love the Vintage misfit. I . think many homes have these colors in one shade, so this would be good to show. Can't wait to see...
Vintage misfit - love to mix it up!
Definitely Misfit. So, so fun and out of the ordinary.
Love the Vintage Misfit colors!
Vintage Misfit all the way! I love the luxorious colors!
I'm going for the bold (and out of my comfort zone)with the Vintage Misfit. Even though the Luxe and Lace have the calm, soothing colors of our Riverstone Collection, my very favorite of our entire catalog, the Vintage Misfit will be fun a daring!
I like Luxe and Lace, because of the soothing, comfortable and relaxing colors. I think it is more livable each day, and will help calm a hectic family down after life "out in the world"
Luv the Vintage MisFit!! I like to call it Vintage ReMix!!! Love using yellow and red as a pop of color!!!
I love vintage, but since Wham is in July, the Luxe and Lace goes best with the season. My mind was made up when I looked at the two yellows since I am so in love with our lemon quartz. The Luxe and Lace yellow, and other colors, will be a much better back drop for the gorgeous spring/summer Sara Blaine jewelry jewelry and is always good with decor.
While I do like both, I am more about elegant and soothing, so I think I have to choose Luxe and Lace. There are some of the vintage misfit colors I really like but overall I think my choice has to be the Luxe and Lace.
Luxe & Lace all the way. Subtle and comforting
I go for the Vintage Misfit! I like mixing eclectic styles
I love the nuetral and pastel pallete surrounding the mustard yellow in the center.
Vintage Misfit sounds fun and interesting!
Yep -- Vintage Misfit ... love the colors and the name is great!
I like the earth tone in Vintage Misfit but it might be too dark for table theme so I'd go with Luxe and Lace.
Luxe & Lace!
Vintage Misfit wins my vote!
Luxe & Lace all the way, baby! Yeah!
Luxe and Lace--love lighter, cooler colors.
I LOVE THE LUXE & LACE color pallette. These colors are subtle yet bright and evoke creativity as they are inter-mingled to highlight the decor or a room. Happy colors!!!!! Makes me smile!!!
Living in Santa Fe,New Mexico I love the Luxe and Lace. They remind me of the colors of the Southwest
I like vintage. I think you can do alot with it
I like vintage. I think you can do alot with it
While I love anything french and would most likely decorate my own home in Luxe and Lace, I'm going to pick Vintage Misfit. I want to see what the design staff does with those bold, dark, colors. Plus anything that's described as 70's prep I'm totally in on!
vintage misfit colors are my fave! Like bold colors as opposed to pastels.
Ohhhh la la! Luxe and Lace! I just love anything french!
Ohhhh la la! Luxe and Lace! I just love anything french!
Luxe and Lace!
Luxe & Lace!
Luxe and Lace for sure!
Luxe and Lace! It looks bright and cheery!
Luxe and Lace for sure. I posted the colors on Pinterest and got re-posts immediately. It's beautiful, sophisticated, has enough neutrals to be applicable anywhere and for anyone.
Lux and Lace is my choice...mostly because of that aqua blue color and the natural sand and tan colors...soothing to me!
I'm definitely a Vintage Misfit!
LUXE AND LACE...SMALLER SPACES LOOK MUCH BETTER W LIGHTER COLORS. JUST MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER IN A ROOM THAT IS NOT SOO DARK AND DRAB...
Vintage Misfit is hip and inclusive. It will appeal to a wide range of people, plus it is very "now"...like it!
Love the bold colors of the vintage misfit! So Trendy!
village misfit But, in my mind, I also saw Village Lace and Luxe Misfit . ..some amazing palates there: glad you're the design team & Not Me!
Vintage Misfit 'cause I love the name.
Vintage Misfit :D
I like the Lux & Lace, it is a perfect backdrop for our Design Table..it won't take away from the main attraction!
