Rock Your Colorblock!
posted by Leslie on | 6 Comments - Post a comment

Colorblocking is everywhere right now. Every time I open a magazine, they are talking about it, but what is it? It basically means wearing two or more solid blocks of color in a single outfit. Sounds simple enough, right?

Since 90% of my wardrobe is black, I decided I needed this trend in my life to help me branch out of my comfort zone. But how do you do it? Lucky Magazine had some great tips. They said that when pairing separates, you should start with one bold color and one neutral color. Once you have that down, try adding another bold color that ties in with the first color and if you’re feeling really adventurous, add in a neon or bright color for some excitement. My one word of advice is to stick to a maximum of three colors to avoid that whole Rainbow Brite look.

There are tons of ways to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. You can stick with different shades of the same color or go for contrasting yet complimentary colors to create a unique look.

You can even re-create the whole colorblocking trend with accessories. Add in a bright clutch to your outfit or stack bold colored stones like in our Layla, Emma, and Sienna bracelets. Add a pop of color with jewelry like we did in our Summer Escape spread. The turquoise quartz in the Sophia Butterfly necklace and the amazonite and glass beads in the Calypso beaded necklace add that pop of blue to the model’s orange and yellow blocks of color.

In fashion, rules are meant to be broken, so experiment with different looks and colors. Whatever you do, wear your look with confidence, and I’m certain you’ll rock your colorblock!

Thanks for this post! I appreciate the tips on pulling off the color block look, I too have been a bit unsure about it but now feel ready to give it a try. Can't wait to wear my new "girlfriend" bracelets I just received with my outfit. (My girlfriends: Emma, Layla, & Sienna who will be joining Mia, Phoebe, Chloe, Audrey...)
I'm with Michele......wondered how to pull this off....I wear a lot of black, too. With your tips, maybe I can branch out.....rock it with the girls...Emma, Layla, etc. Thanks for the tips!
Love the Post Leslie. Its exciting to see our jewelry shots and products so on trend!
Thank you for the color tips. I love when you do these different fashion presentations. I think we all get in our same color grove and need help from time to time to escape from the "same ole', same ole'". I've always loved pink and red together and am so glad it is now quite fashionable!
Great post, excited to share your information with my customers!
Love this!! Thanks!
