Kick the Clutter with Containers!

The first thing my husband Thomas and I realized when we got married was, "What are we going to do with all of this stuff?" When two lives combine, so do their things.  And you may think you know someone, but once you live with them, you get to see a whole new side!

For instance, I knew Thomas wasn’t the neatest person in the world, but I knew he generally picked up after himself. However, since moving in together after the wedding I have learned that he is not very fond of closing food bags or zip-locking them tight.  Also, ants do not particularly bother him. Me, on the other hand, I can’t stand the sight of bugs — especially in the kitchen.

So this is where our beautiful Belle Meade Canisters have stepped in, to save us from stale food and critters. We now keep our coffee, sugar, flour, grits and cereal all in airtight containers. And since we don’t have a very large pantry, this also saves us a ton of extra space for other items that can’t be stored outside of their respected packaging.

As an added bonus, the Belle Meade containers look fantastic on our countertops. Their neutral cream color is classic, and complements our kitchen colors perfectly.

I knew that once I married Thomas that I would have to get used to sweets being around. But to avoid my temptation to eat them, while at the same time making them still available to him, we keep all cookies or snacks in the large Belle Meade Canister.  It’s perfect because they are out of sight, yet still very accessible to him.

I also can’t stand cluttered counters or tabletops. Again, Thomas isn’t necessarily bothered by clutter, but he doesn’t mind when it is clean, either. However, he definitely doesn’t want his office things “hidden” from him though. So to find some middle ground, we compromised with the Morningside Caddy.

We put it on the desk to corral all of his pens and office supplies. Now he knows exactly where his things are, and I don’t have to stare at clutter all day. Plus the great design of the caddy is such a great accent to the boring desk.

As Thomas and I continue through our marriage we are already learning valuable life lessons. Now, if I could only find a product that inspired him to do some laundry...

Cute! :) I wish you both a very happy, life-long and blessed marriage!
I think these canisters are SO pretty! I would love to own a set of them... they are on my wish list! Organizing has been on my brain lately...
I love these containers ~ they match my kitchen decor ~ Would love to have them!
Love pretty thing's that organize too! Esp. love these canisters in my kitchen, and our Charles Street Planter holds all 3 just perfectly to corral them on my counter and make it even easier to move to clean; and looks pretty too =)
I have admired these for a long time. They are classic and would go perfect in my kitchen! If I had these I would replace my "finger printed stainless steel" set and use them for flour, sugar and doggy treats. :)
Use the morning side caddy to hold my essentials for my desk. Great to hold all the things needed to use like pens, pencils, take correction tape sticky notes. Also it can be used to take to parties and place with all that ready for everyone to take orders.
I hate clutter too, and feel stressed out just looking at it. When "junk" has a home, it doesn't feel so much like clutter - the mail, cell phone chargers, pens, magazines all BELONG in the caddy, and I'm less stressed. The Canisters are gorgeous, too - I keep candy/treats in the smallest one. Can't see 'em, not tempted!
Love how you're using the Morningside Caddy - I use one of our retired caddies by the phone to hold pens/pencils, note pads, sticky notes, etc. Really helps cut down on clutter!
These would be a great addition in my bathroom actually to hold cotton balls, Qtips, and hair ties. All those things that never have a good place to hide.
Love the canisters one of my favorite pieces!!!
I would love to give this Canister as a House Warming gift filled with homemade cookies......
I would love putting my chi-tea in. It would be very pretty on the counter. These are on my wish list to purchase. It would be fun showing off to my sweet friends. Genie Daigrepont daigrepont@yahoo.com
I think that you could put a plant in the canister at Christmas time. Turn it upside down and use it as a pedastool. There are different ways that the canister could be used. Cookies, candy, toilet paper cover and you could put a tall candle with stuff around it.
As crazy as this sounds, I would love these in my bath by the tub. one with salts, one with wash clothes (clean of course) and one with a small plant& lid to the side!
I would use this with fresh greenery from my yard. I would add red berries for the holidays .I would put another container in this one or the water fso that if I wanted to use it later for food, it would still be ok Love these!
I would plant an amaryllis bulb in one, and narcissus in another one. The last one would hide some treat inside for when friends came to my annual Holiday party! I hope I win because I will need to get those bulbs planted soon!
these canisters are beautiful and would brighten up my very old kitchen, that I can't afford to replace right now.
I would love to use these classy canisters to help organize my laundry supplies. Detergent, borax, dryer bars, clothes pins, etc. Use chalk board adhesive paper, cut into labels and placed on each canister to write the contents! Presto!
Lovely...These canisters have all kinds of hidden potential! I would definitley put them to good use :)
loved reading all this. Good luck with the organizing----- good containers help, but suggesting (nagging) sometimes is needed, too......
Would love to have these in my kitchen for my up coming 25 Weddings Anniversary. It's been a while for an update with kids in college. <3
