For our final Convention Tablescape Series, I am super-excited to share some insight from Lauren Carroll, stylist extraordinaire!

Dressed in our Fun & Festive color palette, Lauren's tablescape was one my favorites at Convention! With her background in interior design and her playful sense of fun, Lauren elevated her Sips & Strokes theme with some fun punches of color and signature Willow House style. Read on as she shares insight about how she created this fun look:

Josh: So, tell me about the theme of your tablescape.
Lauren: I took my theme from Sips and Strokes, a business where you can drink wine with your friends and paint. I decided to do that on a smaller scale in your own home — where you could have folks over, be creative, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s very doable for just an easy, low-key night for the girls. You don’t have to create an elaborate tablescape, just build out of what you have, and make it work.

Josh: What was your favorite color from your tablescape's palette?
Lauren: My color palette was from Fun & Festive from the Fall 2011 catalog — purple, red and white. My favorite tones were the purples — dusty lavender is so big right now in interiors. I’ve seen it used all over homes as an accent color, it is a very fresh and elegant unexpected pop of color. Like a neutral with a punch.
Josh: What was your favorite product usage or idea from your tablescape?
Lauren: I really liked using a few different products to create the various still life vignettes for the painters’ inspiration. We used the Athena Crackle Vase, the Cinnabar Footed Pedestal and the Galveston Hurricane. They provided a nice mixture of containers for flowers and fruit for painting.

Josh: Did you have one favorite "special touch" that you loved about your look?
Lauren: I really loved using the combination of the Zella Notice Boards and Annabelle Cookbook Holder as easels. Of course this is a little over-the-top for a big group, but what a fun idea for yourself or your child?

Josh: Any other fun touches you’d like to share?
Lauren: I used a painter’s dropcloth as the tablecloth — it’s so easy to use, fits with the theme, and you don’t have to worry about spills — either paint or wine!
Lauren truly has a designer’s mind — you can always see the wheels turning. When she’s not playing super-mom to her two children, Vivian and Davis, Lauren is busy designing some fantastic interiors in Atlanta. She’s ridiculously talented, crazy-fun, and we look forward to working with her each summer on Product Showcase.
PS: Little-known fact: Those "paintings" on Lauren's tablescape were water-colored by yours truly. You know what the sad part is? Although they look like they were painted by a drunken donkey, I was sober as Sister Clark when I did them. LOL — next time, maybe I'll try some sippin' and see if my body of work improves... ;)

PPS: A SUPER-HUGE thanks to my friend and Willow House Consultant Susie Van Deventer for helping me out with this post. You are my hero and I owe you big time!
