Let me tell you a little story about my favorite new item from our Fall 2011 line — the Demibottle Trio. Next to the Riverstone Dinnerware, this smoky trio is my absolute favorite. But there’s something about this petite trio that you don't know ...
I am the Demibottles’ biggest fan. In fact, I love them so much, that I lobbied heavily to have them named the Wiley Demibottle Trio (Wiley is my middle name). Unfortunately, I lost that battle. But to me, they’ll always be the Wiley Demibottles. Even though I can’t claim them as my namesake, my love for these bottles remained undimmed. Here’s just a few reasons why I love them...
They’re Three Times the Fun!
Things that come in a set of three are generally 75% more awesome than things sold individually. First of all, you're automatically following the design rule to style in odd numbers. So, without any effort on your part (besides opening the box), you’re adhering to the principles of Simply Good Design. Kudos to you!

Oh, and another thing — if you can bear it, you can split the set and ta-da! You have three gifts. Fill with bright Sharpies, candies or flowers, and you’re good to go. Except that you’re a little sad now because you had to part with these cute vases. Yeah, sorry to my friends — but no vases for you. Here’s a hug. I’m keeping my vases.
They’re Smoka-licious!
So smoking is bad for your health, but smoky bottles are definitely not! The color of these kiddos is super-cool. Or more appropriately, super-warm! The translucent smoky gray has just a touch of warmth, which makes them neutral, but with a kick. A naughty neutral, if you will!
Believe it or not, these beauties started out their design-life not smoky at all. They were more amber-ish brown, kinda like this...

So one afternoon, Laurel had the bottles out, along with a collection of glass color samples. Ever-nosy, I was like, “So what kind of fun is going on here?” Laurel proceeded to tell me that she was trying to pick out a more fun, trend-forward color for the bottles, and then she said my five favorite words — “Josh, what do you think?”
After kittens, avocados and hang gliding, sharing my opinion is my most-favoritest thing EVER. So I pawed through the glass colors and selected a particularly beautiful shade of smoky gray. I looked up a Laurel, who smiled and said, “That’s the exact one I picked out!”
PS: This further supports my argument that these should be named the Wiley Demibottles. Just sayin.’
They’re Small & Stylish!
Okay, so the final reason I’m loving the (Wiley) Demibottles is that we have a lot in common. Whereas I’m short and sassy, they’re small and stylish. They don’t take up a lot of room, so you can tuck them anywhere — on a windowsill, a mantel, a bookcase, a kitchen counter, on vanity, down a table, in your car, next to your cat’s bowl — anywhere you need some smoky goodness.
And as for stylish, you can’t beat the shapes of the (Wiley) Demibottles. You’ve got the slim, apothecary jar shape, the taller, thin-mouthed vase, and then the squatty, wide-mouthed vase. And while I’d never want Squatty Widemouth as a nickname, I don’t mind it so much in a vase.
One more thing before I depart — let’s take a closer look at the rims of these bottles.

I love this rolled lip — it’s a nice finishing detail, adding weight and depth — subtle, yet stylish. Hmmm ... subtle, yet stylish — that pretty much sums up the (Wiley) Demibottles.
So if you don’t have a set, go ahead and grab three. That way you can play with two of them, and maybe — just maybe — give one away to a friend. Or just keep it for yourself ... like me!
