The French Wire Caddy Goes Back to School!
posted by Leslie on | 24 Comments - Post a comment
It’s back-to-school time again, and my son Wells is never excited about the end of summer. I can’t imagine most teachers are, either! To make it a little more tolerable, I always look for ways to make that first week back extra special. For example, I host an ice cream party for all of the kids in the neighborhood after the first day of school. It gives them something to look forward to all day, and they like comparing teachers and classes while eating their sundaes.

Another thing I like to do is give a back-to-school gift to his new teacher. My friends joke that I do it to get Wells on his teacher’s good side (hey, I’m not denying that every little bit helps!), but I really do it because I know how hard teachers work, and how little help they get.

When I saw the French Wire Carousel Caddy, I knew exactly what I was going to do — fill it with school supplies his teacher will need throughout the year. It’s the perfect holder for pencils, scissors, markers and even small snacks. Wells even got into the act. He loved picking out all of his supplies and then a few extras for his new teacher. He’s entering the first grade, so we chose elementary-age appropriate supplies, but this would work for any grade. Just drop in your supplies, tie a cute ribbon around it and voila — you’ve got a great gift the teacher will use and one that will also look cute sitting on her desk.

Happy back to school for all you teachers, moms and students! Here’s hoping for lots of A’s  — gifts never hurt. I’m just sayin’ ...

Oh -- heck, ya! Perfect idea to use that extra caddy I got at convention!
What teacher wouldn't love this!?! Great for an organizer in the "homework" area of the house too!
Love this idea! Would love to put one of these on my desk at school. I might just have to pamper myself by purchasing one today!
What a lovely, generous gift! Always a good idea to suck up to the teacher - might as well start the first day! :)
As an admininstrator in a school district, this would be a VERY fun back-to-school gift. (I'd beg to differ, though, about not being excited to go back to school. Our district is BUBBLING with excitement for the kids to come back. Two-a-days have started, the band is marching in the high school parking lot, fish camp is going on and teachers are working hard to get their rooms ready for kiddos! WE LOVE BACK TO SCHOOL!)
Love it!!
Would love to give this to my sons teacher this year. Maybe could help them out in organzing art time.
As a former teacher, Fall was one of my favorite times of the school year. And I would have loved getting this as a back to school gift. My girls are only in preschool but those teachers deserve a lot of credit!! I might have to steal this idea! Thank you!!
Great idea! I got one of these at convention and it is still in the box! Going to fill it up with pens, pencils and customer care cards to take to my next party!!
Love this!!! What a great way to store all your desk goodies!!!! Think I have to get one just for me!
I woule LOVE to have something as stylish as this on my desk. This would help make me a pretty chic teacher as well as a very organized one.
This would be wonderful for my desk. This would make me quite the chic and organized teacher.
So cute! Love that idea.
Great idea Leslie!
When I saw this photo, my mind immediately starting racing! The possibilities are endless. It would be perfect in my classroom, in the teachers' lounge, or on my own bathroom vanity! Wow! I'm putting this at the top of my wish list.
I would've loved one of these when I was a teacher! My boys are even finished with grad school, now - so I took my convention prize, filled it with supplies, added a bow and my business card and presented it to a local school to use as a prize at one of their teacher in-service days.
Love it!
Overachiever. Will you make me one?
I will definitely have to take mine to school to put on my desk!
I LOVE this! This would look perfect on my desk in my new office as well!
As a third grade teacher, I can absolutely say this beats the contact paper-covered coffee cans that I use! ;) I'd be thrilled to receive this! BTW--Wells looks like a really good student and any parent who is this thoughtful has to have done an excellent job rearing her son! Have a great school year, Wells!
Wonderful & Cute Idea! Wish someone would've given me this when I taught elementary school! Guess I could've bought it from myself for myself. :)
I did the same thing and donated it for the back to school teacher luncheon!
Great idea...wish one of my students would give it to me on our first day back!
